Besides science, my passions are mountaineering and rock climbing. For me, good ideas rarely arise while sitting at a desk. It is in the mountains or while being outdoors where I get my enthusiasm and inspirations.
 
Above and beyond climbing for personal enjoyment, I am a coach ('Train-the-Trainers') in the federal education team of the German Alpine Club (DAV). It is a great pleasure for me to pass on my knowledge and experiences to the next generation of dedicated people.
